Fender's reissued Telecaster variations in the Custom, Deluxe, and Thinline of the 1970's have featured more prominently in recent series updates across the whole range. From Squier to American Professional II, these now classic designs enjoy regular production along side main-stay reissues of popular models from the '50s and '60s, and for good reason.
This Custom Shop '70s Telecaster features many appointments from the 1972 model year with instruments sporting the Telecaster Custom badge. There are a few transitional features such as a neck base truss rod adjustment and 4 bolt neck heel that would have mostly been phased out by '72, so this example blends in some late '60s practices that certainly keep it unique.
The recent reintroduction of the CuNiFe Wide Range HB's really satisfy with a balance of power and snap. The bridge pickup is a hot A5 magnet 'Twisted Tele' that counters the neck seamlessly. A light-weight (7lbs on the dot) natural ash body is tastefully relic'd with a rift-sawn neck worked-in just the right amount to a fine satin. This Tele was sorted for an extra dark rosewood fingerboard, that resembles ebony with a slightly more porous grain and is a great compliment to the oval 'C' profile.
