Introduced in 1961 as what would appear to be a rather obvious rival to Gibson’s Les Paul/SG Junior, the Gretsch Corvette never really graduated to pro-player status like the guitar maker’s Duo Jet or 6120 models, but it makes a particularly interesting “B-list vintage” guitar. This rare guitar has been well loved, but not abused. While the cherry finish reveals some decent wear on the body and neck, it does not compromise the instrument’s playability. The solid mahogany set neck with a medium profile is quite comfortable and plays with low action. Quite impressive for a 60+ year old instrument!
The machine heads have been replaced at some point in this guitar's life with some Klusons or Kluson-style clones. The original tremolo arm is included, but the bridge does show significant wear.
This guitar weighs a comfortable 6.8lbs and comes with the original Gator case. With a serial number of 58608, it is dated at Mid-1963 according to Gretsch.
